In a village in West Africa, in the land of 1000 kingdoms, the young Sidi Kaba lives peacefully with his family, protected from the sailors who have been capturing his compatriots for centuries. One day, however, a gang kidnaps his big brother Azou and ships him off with other prisoners. To save him, Sidi crosses the ocean with the help of the forgotten goddess Mamy Wata. He reaches the sugar island and finds Azou again, who was enslaved with others on a sugar cane plantation.
Sidi frees them together with Sosso, a resistance fighter, who leads them to the volcano summit to their allies, the Maroons. There everyone prepares for a final battle against the plantation owners' troops.
