Inés, a Spanish animator in her twenties, lives in Ahmedabad, India and has forgotten how to dream. She steps into a library where, she stumbles on the book “Sultana’s Dream” by the Bengali author Rokeya Hossein. The book describes a place called Ladyland where women oversee politics, science, and education while men are confined and take care of the domestic chores. Inés is fascinated by the story and its author.
On her journey, Inés meets Sudhanya who guides her to Rokeya’s grave. Inés and Sudhanya experience a series of eventful encounters. After all this, Sudhanya wakes up from a nightmare and tells Inés a story she has kept quiet for years. While consoling her, they become intimate.
Inés returns to Ahmedabad to meet Ámár for the last time. She learns how each of her encounters has shaped her and that her coming out opens a door to her new life - her very own Ladyland.
